The jewelry box...
The
jewelry box is a small item that is hand formed in solid cherry.
It is a classic that was popular centuries ago and was found in
wealthier homes during the federal period of the American revolution.
The top and bottom are constructed of miniature frame and panel, and
supported by 4 miniature ogee bracket feet.
The
shaker clock...
The shaker clock is constructed from quarter sawn white oak, then fumed to create a natural golden hue. No stains are used, only a final oil coat. Quarter sawn oak furniture is rarely found in retail furniture stores due to its expense and limited popularity. It is more expensive because less lumber can be created from one tree. The boards are cut perpendicular to the grain which makes the wood appear wavy and to sparkle. Woodworkers that create Arts & Crafts or Greene & Greene style furniture are more likely to use this wood. This style of furniture was very popular in the early 20th century. This type of wood is sometimes available at sawmills or lumber yards as a special order.
